Three Separate Compliance Programs
NM Weight Distance (NMWD) is a New Mexico-specific weight-distance tax for vehicles over 26,000 lbs DGVW. IRP handles apportioned plate registration across member jurisdictions. IFTA covers fuel tax apportionment among member states.
These programs serve different purposes. A carrier may need all three depending on fleet weight, operating patterns, and whether vehicles are titled in New Mexico or operate interstate.
